Frock Fridays: Fall Wishlist

Before I say anything else - because I know you were all super concerned, thank you - let me say this: I feel so much better!  Sure, at this morning's meeting I wished I had a flashing sign on my chest warning people against trying to shake my hand, but I really am on the mend.  It's just past 2pm right now, and I feel confident declaring this a one-dose-of-DayQuil day.  I even have my appetite back!  Hallelujah.

Now, I know that my weekly style posts are called Frock Fridays, but I'm going to blame my lingering cold for going out on a limb here and focusing on skirts today.  (Last week's used a skirt, not a dress, yes, but I'm usually pretty reliable, aren't I?)  When we were at the Leesburg Outlets before the race this past Friday, I fell in love with a sweater at the Banana Republic Factory Outlet - it's totally not me, but I couldn't resist it.  Look at how cute it is!

But, since it's nothing like anything else I own, I don't really have a ton of options to wear with it.  So what better excuse to put together a fall wishlist?  Obviously I don't own any of these skirts (or shoes, though I do have similar heels and ballet flats), but a girl can dream...

  4. Love the sweater - definitely a fun one to branch out on! I think it would be adorable with that brocade mini. Hope you're all better soon!

  5. What a cute sweater! Sometimes those out-of-the-box finds end up becoming fast favorites. The brocade skirt is adorable too.

  6. Very cute sweater, and surprisingly versatile - I'd wear it with skinny jeans and rain boots...because that's the weather heading my way :P

  7. to me, that sweater is just asking to be paired with a good pair of pants [bonus points if they're in a fun color, since the sweater is so neutral]. something about wearing it with a skirt strikes me as a funny combo, but I'm really not sure why I'm having that reaction. it's not like sweater+skirt is something groundbreaking or unusual... but regardless, that is a REALLY cute sweater.

  8. I love that kilt. I want to grab it off the screen and run away with it. Just another thing I hate about living in a hot climate - I probably couldn't wear that here. I love the sweater with the floral skirt and wine-colored flats the best. I love it with the kilt, too, but I worry about the Catholic schoolgirl association!

  11. That tartan skirt! Reminds me of the high-school uniform skirt, which I adored! Also, I'd easily pair this with the J. Crew Pixie or Minnie pant. Classic black cut that you can't go wrong with :) Glad you're feeling better, dear!

  12. I KNOW. it is. but I have to tell you - two weeks ago, before the race, I went to try on pants. I was feeling fit and good about my body and so I went to try on pants. And I left totally hating myself. So I am anti-pants right now.

  17. I'm obsessed with that plaid skirt. I'm loving all the plaid I've been seeing, and I've been trying to decide if a (cough) 30 something can pull off the same thing I pulled off when I was 14.

  18. why not? I feel like there's an intermediate window where you can't unless it's for a fancy dress party (say, ages 17-27) but after that it's fine!

  19. I will forever be devoted to mini-kilts and all things tartan.
