Favorited

I don't know how you use it, but the "favorite" button on Twitter functions as my one-click bookmarking service.  If I'm scrolling through my feed on my phone and I see an article that deserves attention I can't give it at that time or a blog post that I want to comment on with a proper keyboard or a quote that I need to digest and return to or a piece that really requires a larger screen, I'll hit favorite and save the tweet for later.

Of course, this method only works well if I regularly check my favorites tab to catch up on all the links - which, unsurprisingly, I often forget to do.  So yesterday I went through every tweet I've favorited over the past year, and I thought I'd share some of the best with you!

Many of the giveaways and link-ups that I'd favorited had long since expired when I checked my favorites tab - I'm glad I haven't missed Nicole's Don't Try So Hard link-up announcement!  I'll definitely be joining in tomorrow.

It's prime produce season, so I'm glad to have The Kitchn's Guide to Storing Fruits and Vegetables at hand!

Laicie's post on Turning Thirty is so beautifully written and, with my 28th birthday coming up a month from Tuesday, provides a poignant reminder about focusing more on where I am now than where I'll be going.

Almost every village name near where Jon's parents live has a history.  For instance, Saxmundham, the town next to our wedding venue, might have originated in the Viking era as Seizmond's Home.  Does that awaken your inner history nerd?  Read this article from Kate and Hannah, titled What Can Place Names Tell Us About Basically Everything?

Another historical item: now you can find out how people died in London over the past century and a half!  The Wellcome Library has published Medical Officer of Health reports from 1848 to 1972, and it's absolutely fascinating.

Thanks to KVConfessions' awesome find, we can now copy/paste all the characters and symbols we want!

Arts fundraising is a very female field, but only recently have women begun assuming executive roles at cultural non-profits.  I loved this Washington Post piece on 13 women who are heading up museums in the DC/Baltimore area.

As someone who was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of articles on introverts last year, Amanda's post on Why Extroverts are Misunderstood cracked me up!

I'm loving folk music these days, so The Hayden Triplets appearance on NPR's tiny desk concert is going to be on constant repeat.  It's perfect for a Sunday afternoon - enjoy!

  1. Thanks for including me :) I too use the favorite button as a "save" for later and then forget to go back to it! It's overwhelming how much is available for us to read! More and more every day, it seems like. Hope you're having a great weekend!

  2. I use the favorite button to save, too. I do the same thing with the heart on Bloglovin when I find articles that I want to go back and comment on later and then totally forget about it.

By the way, thanks for keeping me busy wandering the internet with your finds for like the last two hours. And I'm so glad you shared Nicole's Don't Try So Hard link up. That's going to be awesome!

  3. I have a love/hate relationship with the favorites button, I always get excited when a tweet of mine gets favorited but then I want to know why but I think it is becoming more of a way to acknowledge someone has read a tweet directed at them.

  4. I use the favourite button for the same reason too! I love the shapes of the city scapes!
