Frock Fridays: Polka Dots and Rosettes

Do you see what I see?  It's a thaw!  They might be predicting another snowstorm for next weekend, but this weekend looks like it'll be positively balmy.  (I can't even tell you how glorious my run was this morning.  27°f at 7am meant that I was able to grab my crops from the drawer and only layered two shirts on top!  Spring running, I am ready for you.)  Of course I'll still need a jacket and tights when I go out this weekend, but I know exactly what I'm going to wear for tomorrow's adventures:

I picked up this cute polka-dotted dress at H&M last week - it was in the window, calling to me, and unsurprisingly it didn't take me long to rationalize spending a frivolous $15.  It's totally versatile, so I'm going to wear it to watch England play France in rugby's Six Nations tournament tomorrow at noon at a bar in Chinatown before running across the street to Sidney Harman Hall to see The Washington Ballet's performance of The Jazz/Blues Project at 1:30 and then, after that, to join my friend Beth for birthday celebrations on 14th St.  Honestly, I wouldn't usually wear such informal boots to the ballet but I suspect the atmosphere might be a little more relaxed since it's not a classical performance and it's a matinée.  Accessorized with a belt and cross-body bag from Target (plus my go-to opaque tights as a nod to the fact that it is still winter) and a pair of white rosette earrings, symbolizing my support for England in the rugby, I think I'll be set for the afternoon!

  1. This totally look like something I would wear. I actually wore a black dress with tan polka dots, tights, boots that look eerily similar to those, tan belt, and flower earrings (yes seriously) yesterday to work! I just added a cardigan becasue the dress is sleeveless. So we're thinking along the same line. :)

  2. I love this dress. I saw it today in H&M in the UK and feel in love but didn't have time to try it on. Darn it. Definitely heading back there for it soon. Sounds like you've got a great day planned.

  3. Love the dress but I'd love it even more if you wore it with little rooster earrings instead of rosettes ;)
