Frock Fridays: Anthro Honeymoon

I know.  Really, I know.  There is nothing more cliché than a lifestyle blogger doing a fashion post of items from Anthropologie.  I'm sorry.  But I opened an email from them yesterday reminding me that I get 15% off one order in my birthday month - that's August, you know - and so I thought I'd go browse, just for fun, and then Jon called to tell me that we might be able to do a honeymoon after all and... well, I let my imagination get the better of me.

About that possible honeymoon: we weren't going to take one after the wedding.  Not at all.  The original plan was for us to get married on the 24th and then I'd fly back to DC on the 26th and be at my desk on the 27th.  We didn't have the time or the money to enjoy a honeymoon immediately afterwards, and that was okay.  We were starting to think of big trips we could take for our one-year anniversary in August 2014, once we'd gotten the visa out of the way and Jon was settled here in the States.  But the time issue kind of sorted itself out and it turns out that there may be an option that would put us very minimally out of pocket thanks to the generosity of some family members and... well, again, I'm letting my imagination get the better of me.

But if it does happen, it will be to a lovely place that Jon and I have visited before.  A place with rolling hills and winding streets and open water and memories and friends and a little cottage just for the two of us.  And I don't want to jinx anything, but if I were to take advantage of that 15% off deal...

  2. fingers crossed your honeymoon works itself out! the idea of you flying home two days after getting married is just too sad to bear [sorry if that's rubbing salt in the wound, but it really is! you need longer than 2 days to celebrate with your new husband!]. also, that dress is giving me Mediterranean vibes, I think?

  3. Oh, Anthro! Just going into that store makes my head spin with possibilities. I really hope your honeymoon works out! We postponed our honeymoon (only by one month), but we still took a couple of days right after the wedding for just the two of us, at a little B&B in Charlottesville. Definitely worth it!

  5. Oh Anthro. Love it too much for my wallet which is why I own so very few things from it. Plus I always watch something diligently to see if it goes on sale, and then two days after I last checked it, it's on sale AND sold out. If only I had an actual store I could visit. That's the downside of living in a college town instead of a city.

That dress is adorable. I'm all about navy and polka dots. I'm kind of known around my friends as wearing navy with red accents, which is why that's why my bridesmaids did it too. To be fair, I let them choose if they wanted the red shoes or not, and they did.

  16. Really hope you guys are able to get away, even if it is just to a place where you can have some just-the-two-of-you time!! It's worth it to spend some time together and to catch a breather after all the insanity of entertaining friends and relatives! :D

  21. Oh, Anthropologie... I love that place but can never go in unless I have a gift card. Birthday discounts are good, too. :) I love the look you put together! Fingers crossed for your honeymoon.

  22. Fingers crossed on your honeymoon! Although I can see the pros of taking a grand trip later when you have time, but your potential getaway sounds like a dream. And as for Anthro...when they have a sale, you jump on it. (Says the unemployed college student who can barely afford their sale rack.)

  27. 95% of my honeymoon wardrobe was from Anthro. The other 5% was shoes. ;)

  28. oh man THAT DRESS! You're reminding me that this IS my birthweek coming up and I've got some deals to take advantage of! To anthro I go tomorrow!

  29. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you at least get a mini-moon. It's important to decompress together after the wedding. We spent 36 hours in Boston on our mini-moon and it was time together that we definitely needed x

  30. If you're thinking of going where I think you're thinking of going, I took James for the first time earlier this year and the village is as wonderful as ever. There's a beautiful new cafe where you can get waffles and poached eggs and oh, I really hope you can go!

  31. that IS where I was talking about, but it's already spoken for! however, Libby seems to have come to the rescue with some creative ideas, so we shall see :)
