Frock Fridays

Because I'm saving up for various projects - my next visa is a seriously expensive item on my 2012 to-do list - I'm under a self-imposed moratorium on spending money on new clothes.  This would be difficult at any time of the year and especially during the post-Christmas sales, but keeping my wallet safely hidden away is extra challenging right now because I've just discovered Shabby Apple.

My wardrobe during the colder months usually consists of summer dresses + tights + cardigans, but I'm getting a bit bored of pulling out the same few items.  When I want to be comfortable yet still put together, I turn to my beloved collection of jersey dresses, but at the moment even velvet isn't doing it for me.  (It's truly a tragedy when favorite clothes lose their magic.  Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about - you've sobbed at finding the bloom gone from a sartorial rose.  I know you have.  That's why we're friends.)  I thought, though, that maybe another option for me could be the classic shirtdress; I've never been much of a shirtdress girl, but they're structured while not being too tailored which means that they're flattering and easy to wear, so I decided they were worth looking into. I turned to Pinterest for a little virtual window-shopping and - amidst a heavenly chorus and the sound of angels' trumpets blowing - found Mecca.

Shabby Apple aims "to make dresses a one-piece outfit, making women feel feminine and beautiful for what they wear, not what they bare."  They've got perfect options for every body shape - find styles that work for you here - and are totally affordable.  Plus, each frock comes with a story, which is adorable.  Apparently they've been talked about all over the place recently, so I'm surprised that I'm only just discovering them, but this is definitely a case of better late than never.

I limited myself to admiring only shirtdresses for the purposes of this post, but they've got tons o' styles that I'm loving.

For work...

and play...

and everything in between!  Yes, please, thank you; I'll take all of them.

[ This is not a sponsored post - I am simply crazy about Shabby Apple's dresses and wanted to share them with you.  Besides, I'm not even close to being that kind of blogger... yet! ]

  2. Not sure if this will be good (preventing spending) or bad (crapping on a giddy moment) but FYI I am SUPER skeptical of shabby apple. The styles are awesome and I love the pictures but my friend has ordered from them several times and, every time, returned most of it because of poor quality! Sob, I know.
