Walking Suffolk

It feels like it's been ages since my trip to London in mid-August - so much has happened in the last month!  But I was in Suffolk not too long ago, and it's lovely to remember my stay with Jon's family in the beautiful English countryside even as fall creeps into the air here in Washington.

Although we didn't get to have as many adventures as we'd have liked because of my luggage situation, Jon and I did enjoy a wild ramble through the heath near his parents' house one late afternoon.  The land out there is stunningly varied: in only a few miles, you walk alongside harvested fields, wade through ferns that tickle the back of your knees, and gaze across wide swaths of purple heather.  (And yes, we also had to pick our way delicately past a few back gardens!)  It was such a gorgeous respite from the frustrations of dealing with the airline - a country walk in Suffolk is always centering.  Enjoy it with me again, dear readers.
