A few days later, however, he friended me on Facebook. A week after that, he sent me a message.
Heya, how's it going? Hope you're still enjoying london and the medieval stuff, it's probably much more fun than the shakespeare i'm currently trying to stay awake for! By the way, i'm thinking about spending the next year of my course in the US and columbia is one of the options - i'm sort of veering towards the university of california but was wondering what you think? Anyway, hope all's good with you and let me know if you fancy meeting up at some point xxxHe'd mentioned when we met that he was considering studying abroad, so I wrote back even though I thought the message was just a pretext for a date. I figured I could nip whatever we'd started in the bud if we hung out platonically and I suggested the least romantic thing I could think of: Starbucks on Villiers Street at 3pm on a Sunday. I showed up not having made any effort to impress. I hadn't showered, my hair was pulled back, I wasn't wearing any make-up, and I had thrown on the most basic clothes I owned.
Needless to say, Jon charmed me over coffee that afternoon, and we're coming up on six years since that first date. And it turns out he prefers me dressed casually, so I think I might recreate the outfit I wore then to pick him up from the airport tonight! It'll look something like this...
So sweet. I still have the sweater that we had our first kiss in. Have a happy reunion tonight!! Hooray!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet. I'm sure you're full to the brim of happiness today! x
ReplyDeleteaww i think that is the sweetest idea! so happy for you betsy! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and smart to go with a cute and basic first date outfit I would be mortified to wear what I wore then now!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that you are going to recreate this! I remember the outfit I wore on my first date with Nick very vividly. Unfortunately I don't think it's something I'd want to recreate! haha.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! You totally charmed HIM is how I think it went. With your casual wear and your ponytail :)
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!! Such a good choice--I'm so over the moon happy for you, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteAWWWWW! I still have the black sundress I wore on my first date with Dan, but it's too big. I found a good seamstress, though, so I might have her take in all of my old dresses.
ReplyDeleteI still have the skirt I wore on my first date with Scott - a denim skirt, even though it's so hot in Hawaii, let alone being horrifically out of fashion. I wear the wedges and shirt I wore all the time still, but even though I never wear that skirt, I still have it tucked away in my bureau. Nostalgia :D
ReplyDeleteSo I've been kind of MIA from the blogging world the past few months, but I saw all of your joyous instagram posts and wanted to congratulate you all on finally getting to live together!! I can't imagine the process it has been, but I'm very happy for you, and excited for the new chapter you all are now starting together!
ReplyDeleteYour plan backfired and it worked out in the long run for both of you! What a lovely story. :)
ReplyDeleteAh, so sweet! I love this.
