British Style for an American Spring

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know that my dream is to have a home.  I love traveling and I've lived in four cities in the past eight years, but all I want, deep down, is to be able to buy pretty and purposeless things to put on my shelves, comfortable in the confidence that I won't have to pack them up only a few months later for a move.  What can I say?  I'm a nester.

One of the manifestations of my desire to settle down is a compulsion to order catalogues.  I find it hugely satisfying when I unsubscribe to mailing lists online, but it's almost guaranteed that, if I walk into Crate and Barrel or J Crew, I'll happily sign over my address.  After all, if I can commit to receiving catalogues every month it means that I have a home and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon!

All that was a long introduction to this: I got the spring Boden catalogue recently and I love it.  The family I nannied for in London got their catalogues - don't get me started on how cute the kids' clothes are - and I'd always sneak peeks while the children were playing.  I couldn't wait for the opportunity to order my own!  I've already dogeared approximately 80% of the pages in my current catalogue, scribbled exclamation points next to outfits, and circled my favorite patterns and colors.  When I went online to see what sizes are currently available, I was delighted to be informed that almost everything is on sale up to 40% off!  I might have no choice but to order myself a new work dress for the warm weather that's finally arrived in DC...

(This post isn't sponsored; I just love Boden!  Their catalogues make me so happy.  They've actually run out of their Spring 2014 ones already due to "exceptional demand" but you can request a summer catalogue here.)

  1. Such cute dresses. I want that white dress with the blue polka dots right now! Unfortunately I need it to go a little more on sale before I can justify the price since I don't really have a "need" for it currently. Just lovely.

  2. UGH I want (but don't need) that one too - if it helps, it's a bit cheaper if you get it in blue with white polka dots!

  3. I love Boden! I recently discovered them through some fashion blog, and I'm always drooling over their collection of dresses. I've been restraining myself when it comes to shopping for clothes, but as soon as the weather really warms up I'm hitting up that website!

  4. Those dresses are beautiful! I so want to order some - but I have to cure myself from being such a lazy t-shirt and shorts girl first.

  24. I know I'm a little late to the game on this post but I had to comment and say that I am so glad someone is in love with Boden's sweet British style as much as me! I love every single thing I've bought from them. They had a sample sale in PA one time and I even though I had flu-like symptoms I stood in line for over an hour to get in. I may be crazy but I just love Boden's clothes
