Sun, Fun, and Family

By the time you read this, I'll have left the United States - and, for the first time in two years, my international flight isn't headed to England!  We're all gathering in the Bahamas to celebrate my maternal grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary.  I know we just had Thanskgiving, but I'm so excited to spend another week with my family.  Jon's crossing the pond to join us; this will be the last time I see him until he moves to the US, visa in hand, and it will be wonderful for us all to be together.

This trip sort of snuck up on me and I'm sort of glad about that.  I couldn't overplan things, as I usually do, and I couldn't psych myself out about my body being beach-ready, whatever that means.  We have two dinners on the books, a family celebration on Nana and Pappy's actual anniversary and a date night for me and Jon, but otherwise there's nothing we're obliged to do.  I'd love to go snorkeling, a few friends have recommended swimming with dolphins, and I know Jon hopes to get out on a boat for a day, but I suspect we'll spend many of our hours on the beach, dashing between the sea and the sand as we soak up the sun.

I'll be mostly off grid while we're down there so I can concentrate on enjoying my family and losing myself in the holiday, so let me wish you now a very happy Christmas week!  I hope you all have wonderful holidays too, dear readers, and I'll see you a bit closer to 2014.

  1. We did a warm destination family trip for Christmas once and it was pretty much the best Christmas ever - so I know you're going to have a great time! Enjoy all those good things, and don't come back TOO tan, or the rest of us won't be able to get over our jealousy ;-)
