Frock Fridays: Flashback to 1953

I think I mentioned recently that we're going to the Bahamas over Christmas; it's my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary on December 24th, so they're taking the whole family down to celebrate for a week.  While we're there, Jon and I will sneak away one night for a romantic dinner, just the two of us, and I have no idea what I'll wear.  I haven't been somewhere hot in the winter since 2004 or 2005!  It's totally throwing me off my fashion game.

If I'd been really organized and thoughtful, though, I'd have found a vintage dress pattern from 1953 and made - or asked my mother to make me - a frock I could wear for our date that honors Nana and Pappy's anniversary.  This shape is so me anyway, the length is enormously flattering, and I love the little flirty bows at each shoulder.  And it would be such fun to think that my grandmother might have worn something similar at my age!

  8. How sweet! I went to a blogger event at a vintage clothing store and the owners kept insisting that the clothing was made for my body type. I'll definitely take that as a compliment!
