Since we're together right now, you and me and Charlie, I want to let you know that the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi is being celebrated this Sunday with the Blessing of the Animals at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC. The service is at 2:30pm on the west steps (on the side that looks like the front, facing Wisconsin Avenue) and all pets and their caretakers are invited. Even if you don't have an animal to bring, it's a really fun and meaningful experience to participate in! Let me know if you might be coming - Charlie and I hope to see you there!
And if you haven't yet taken the survey, it's here. I'd be grateful if you might be able to spare a few minutes for it or, alternatively, you can just leave a comment on yesterday's post. I so appreciate all the feedback I've gotten so far - thank you!
Aww I loved this video. I miss having a pet SO much. I hate when rented accomodation doesn't allow pets. Aled & I always talk about "when we get our own cat" and "when we get our own dog". I think I'd always sing Cheer Up Charlie at him if I had a pet named Charlie....!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I was seriously laughing out loud. I'm so glad that I watched this morning!! I'm even more convinced now that Sir Charles and Lady Anabelle need a play date. They would get along splendidly!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Chaaaarrrrllliiieee! He is such a.... Lab. There's no other way to put it... makes me miss my clumsy yellow ball of fur :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know who Charlie was, I'll admit. Was torn between pet or person so I left that field alone. But hey, doggie! I'm all for dog posts. Even though I am a cat person above all.
ReplyDeleteI didn't take the survey yet, but add me to the list of cat people! Charlie is adorable though! I'm all for pet posts, regardless of species :)
ReplyDeleteSo this is weird but you'd probably understand, I watched this with my doodle, Millie, and she was very intrigued by your "Charlie bit me" impression. She then started sniffing the laptop vigorously, determined to out the mysterious person and handsome lab she was seeing in front of her. ALSO, I definitely get all the nicknames, we have a billion for Millie, including the latest, "lanky doodle dandy."
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Charlie posts. I don't like cats much. Please don't hate me bloggers. haha
ReplyDeleteI love the names of Charlie, which is, of course, a great name for a dog. We got Casey at 10 months old (her, not us) and we considered changing her name once we got her. But when we got home and let her out of the car, she took off on us and we yelled "CASEY" and she halted in her tracks and came right back, so that was that.
ReplyDeleteShe has SO many names it isn't funny. Ok, it is. She is most often, Cay Fay the Doo Doo Bay.
Sloan is Captain Pooface (Paul). And Pie, for Sloan E. Pie- (me). And Buttbrain (Paul). And Shithead, pronounced the urban-legend baby name way, when she is being one in public (me). And Suh-loan when she's being peevish, although that stems from some people pronouncing her name that way. And many nicer nicknames, like Pretty Pretty Princess, Sissy, Sister, Poodle (my way of softening "Pooface")... oh, and Number One. Because I can't always keep track of them all. (all three...)
ReplyDeleteMax is Pants (Paul), Mackie (me), MaxPants (Paul), Bubby/Bobby/Bob (me), Doodle/Doodlebrain/Doodlebug (both of us), Bug/Bugboy/Bugman/Birdman (me), Brother (both of us), Good Child (yes, he responds to this. It's one of the reasons my mom is glad we're not procreating), and Number Two. I'm sure there are others...
Mia is Smee, Gato, Cat-o, Little Bitty, Paul used to call her Itty Bitty Shitty Kitty until she got big, now she's Fatty Catty Shitty Kitty... oh, and Number Three. And yes, she responds to it. She responds to all of them. Vocally.
And to all of your friends who think they hate cats... they just haven't met the right one yet. I promise. ;)
Oh, and my friend had a Golden named Charlie (female, though) and I called her Chuckles. My friend's daughter, then three, started calling Charlie "Freckles" because she couldn't remember "Chuckles", and at the time I was the coolest person in her life. It was totally adorable.
ReplyDeleteCharlie and I were really limited when I moved out of my parents' house because so few places accepted pets - and then most of those had a weight limit that Charlie was way over! we did luck out though :)
ReplyDeletehaha I know they would! as long as we had one elephant for each of them :P
ReplyDeletehaha yes he is ABSOLUTELY a Lab in every way!
ReplyDeletehaha I had a Skype call with one of my best friends from college about a year ago - he and I are bad at keeping in touch but remain very close - and after a little while of me saying things like, "well, Charlie hogs the bed" he asked, "wait, I thought your fiancé was Jon...?" haha
ReplyDeleteamen!
ReplyDeletehahahaha I love it when they interact with screens! Charlie gets VERY excited about the MGM lion :P
ReplyDeletehaha well thank you from both of us :)
ReplyDeletehey, if it works! Charlie was Captain when we got him but he'd only been with the rescue organization for a few weeks and who knows what he was called before that, so we felt okay with changing it. my sister still calls him "o captain my captain" though!
ReplyDeleteI love you. You know this. Amazing. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSTOP IT MY WOMB.
ReplyDeleteOnly if I can be the coolest person in your kid's life. Hey, Jilly hadn't seen me in almost three years and when Brave came out she said "It's a Gesci Princess!"
ReplyDeleteThat girl is GREAT for my self esteem.
not cinquant? hehe
