Wedding Wednesday: Candids

How do you recap a wedding on a personal blog?  I really don't know the answer to that - for some reason, I can't find any on the blogs I read regularly!  (Help.  Please.  I know you're out there.)  You've heard so much over the past year about everything that went into our wedding, but what came out was a lot of colors and sounds and feelings - how do you put that into words?

It's also tricky because, as I've mentioned before, Jon isn't comfortable with me sharing intimate moments of the day here.  Add to that the fact that I don't remember many details from August 24 because it was such a whirlwind of joy and love... well, maybe I should mostly let pictures from the evening speak for themselves?

You've seen the sneak peek that Tarah published last week but, given that intro, it's probably for the best that I use today to share candids that our friends took, which will give me more time to gather my thoughts and to run a draft by Jon.  So let's save the formal SMP-style post for when we get our professional photos from Tarah, shall we, and just enjoy the wonderful chaos of the day I married the most handsome man in all of England!

There are tons more, many of them fantastic shots of our friends having a great time, but I'm not sure they want those up here so you mostly just get me and Jon for now.  I hope you don't mind!  Thank you to John and Lucy, Camilla, Lynsey, and Sara for letting me share your photos - you guys are the best.

  1. Oh, I've been waiting to see and hear more about this transatlantic wedding! I love how happy both you and Jon look and I can't wait to see more.

I recapped our wedding on my blog around our first anniversary. I broke it up into a few different posts centred around main topics. (You can check it out here if you're interested... http://www.fromtheretoheretheblog.com/search/label/Wedding ) I, for one, really appreciated following along your process and I look forward to seeing how everything came together!

  2. I had a hard time recapping our wedding too, there was so much to say and yet I couldn't find the words. (This is the month they were all posted in - http://andreaythomas.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html). Um, I love the pink on Jon, I didn't realize they work pink and I love it! And you guys look so fabulously happy and in love and it makes me smile to see the pictures. Yay!

  4. I've been doing Wedding Wednesday posts regularly since our wedding (well, since I started blogging regularly again, back at the beginning of summer). It helps to just share pictures (and I usually divide them into specific posts like signature drink, flowers, etc), and then as you start looking at pictures some of those special memories come rushing back--just let me know if you'd like to check them out and I'll send you the link! Also, I'm loving these pictures here and the ones you've been posting on Instagram--your wedding day looked beautiful and I'm excited to hear more about it! (As long as Jon approves, of course :))

  6. I had nothing to do with the pink! I didn't get a say in choosing the boys' outfits - I wasn't even allowed in the store with them! they did good on their own :)

    and thank you!

I think for some reason, it's also hard to remember things immediately after, because you're still kind of reeling from the big day. I tried to sit down and write a post of everything I remember about a week later, and nothing came to me! But when I see pictures and see certain emotions on our faces, that's when I start to remember certain little moments throughout the day.

  10. You guys look so absolutely happy!!! And it looks like everything turned out beautifully. I love wedding candids and family pictures - they capture all the little details that the actual photographers sometimes miss!

I come from a social media happy family so that was a pretty good guide to what was happening when and where, but I was also able to use the pictures to step back through my day. I divided up a lot of my planning posts the same way, so it was kind of fun to draw the line back through "this is what I planned" and "this is what we actually did." My last post in the recap was my favorite, actually: "I'm Glad I Did / I Wish I Had" for a couple reasons: 1) there wasn't a lot in the "I Wish I Had" category, and 2) it let me go back through all the things we did and really be happy about doing them! If you want to see any of them, I can shoot you the link!

  11. haha yes, Jon is cutting the real cake with his grandfather's sword, which he was given in a diplomatic capacity. he is not taking me hostage, as one friend guessed after seeing that photo. nor is he protecting me from pirates, as another friend guessed.
