My little boy turned three on the 14th! I've been spoiling him all weekend, kicking off the celebrations with a lunchtime Poochini from Shake Shack on Friday. (The walk there and back covered three and a half miles, so our exertions in the afternoon sun plus the sweet treat resulted in a very tired pup and guaranteed me a few quiet hours to work on Monday's blog post!) We spent yesterday with my parents in the suburbs - at our country house, I like to say - and Dad and I took Charlie for a glorious ramble through Rock Creek Park. The mercury reached nearly 70° and there wasn't a cloud in the sky so, though everything was still quite brown, it felt like spring! We ran into a few other Labs at a pebbled sandbank in the creek, and Charlie had a blast swimming, wrestling, and racing around with them. He was the happiest dog!
Today has been full of cuddles as the temperature has dropped and we've begun to prepare for more snow. It's been a wonderful birthday weekend, if I do say so myself, and I think Charlie would agree!
